AbiWord is an excellent free word processor.

The first thing you find is a quality professional interface. If you are used to working with word processors like Microsoft Word or WordPerfect, it will be easy to control this word processor.

It offers everything other processors have. You can change fonts (size, style, colour, underline...), establish tables, margins, columns, lists, images, page numbers, unlimited do/undo, search function, orthographic correction...it doesn`t lack anything. To save in AbiWord you have *.abw and it is in XML format, works with other text editors, and supports files like TXT, RTF, HTML, Word97/2000, Palm, Psion, DocBook, XHTML...
